Stacey Solomon admits she had to make hard decision in Joe Swash relationship

Stacey Solomon and husband Joe Swash live an idyllic family life in their Essex mansion, Pickle Cottage. However, the star has now revealed she had her doubts about their relationship initially.

The Crafty Christmas presenter and the former EastEnders actor connected while working together on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! spin-off show Extra Camp. The two began to realise they had feelings for each other, but Stacey was hesitant to take the plunge and start dating Joe.

Reflecting on the start of their romance, mum-of-five Stacey told this week’s OK! Magazine: “It was a really hard decision to go out with Joe. We knew our personal lives would be made totally public, and it wasn’t something I was used to.”

At the time, Stacey’s priority was looking after her two sons from previous relationships, Zach and Leighton. She recalled: “I had the kids, and I just didn’t want to go down that road.”

Fortunately for the star, she gave Joe a chance and it paid off, as the pair have been happily married since 2022, and the couple share three young children together; Rex, four, Rose, one, and baby daughter Belle, who is celebrating her first birthday in February.

Stacey continued: “But it was the best decision I ever made.”

Praising her husband, who is also dad to son Harry, 16, from a previous relationship, she added: “He’s so grounded and wears his heart on his sleeve.

“I always know what I’m getting with Joe, there’s no hidden agenda.

“All he cares about is us. I do feel we were meant to be together.”

Stacey’s heartfelt relationship insight comes after she gave fans an update on husband Joe’s ill health, as he’s been stuck at their Essex home with a “man-bug”.

“I’ve finally got my kids to bed,” Stacey told her 5.8 million Instagram followers last night. “I’ve been waiting all night for this moment.”

Giving fans a glimpse into her busy family life before Christmas, Stacey continued: “Joe has been quarantined into the kitchen. He’s not allowed to leave because I feel like I can take the sofa covers off all the chairs in the kitchen and disinfect all of them quite easily.

“I don’t want him on any of the soft furnishings. Do you know what I mean? So that virus can linger.

While sharing clips of her disinfection methods, she joked: “If I got the sickness bug that he’s got, I probably wouldn’t even notice but here we are. I’m not taking any chances. No, he really is ill, bless him.”
